SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - A Santa Fe man accused of driving a four-wheeled all-terrain vehicle while he was intoxicated was booked on his ninth drunken driving charge.
A police report cited by the Santa Fe New Mexican says 33-year-old Angelo Ruiz fled from his home Tuesday after he had hit his girlfriend earlier in the evening and was pulled over on the ATV by an officer who spotted him.
Officers noticed that Ruiz had an ignition interlock driver's license but no interlock device on the unregistered ATV.
Records show Ruiz was arrested on drunken driving charges eight previous times in the past 12 years.
Ruiz faces a maximum of three years in prison if convicted in the latest case.
